Manali in One Day

One day or 24 hours are not enough to know and feel of any town or city. But if you plan an itinerary wisely and carefully, you can enjoy some sightseeing spots of Manali. Manali in One Day

You should start the one day tour of Manali very early in the morning otherwise it will not be possible for you to cover the important places to visit in Manali. If you are staying in Manali, the early start is easily possible for you. So, you should plan to arrive in Manali the night before and have a comfortable night. Also, you should book a private taxi or car for covering the maximum places in one day.

Breakfast in Manali

As you have to start one day tour of Manali, you should start it by having tea and breakfast at your own hotel after freshening up for the day. Most often, the hotel provides a buffet spread which includes Indian and continental breakfast with the tea, coffee or juice. The Indian breakfast includes some Indian snacks such as idli chutney, vada sambhar or some local dishes.

Hadimba Devi Temple

You can start your tour with the Hadimba Devi temple which is just 2 kilometers away from the main Mall. This temple is located on a small hill and is surrounded amidst the pine tree forest. Far from the madding crowd of Mall, this pagoda-style stone and wood temple is the best sight one can behold. The art of stone carving is at its full glory which depicts the local deities, various animals and plants and provides a charming sight to the visitors.

Hadimba Devi Temple

If you are lucky, you will also get to see the rituals of the local wedding which are normally performed here. You can also sit and relax for a few moments on the benches which can be reached by a small staircase. You can shop for souvenirs such as Himachali shawls and sweater in the open air market near the gate.

Siyali Mahadev Temple

After paying obeisance to the primary deity of Manali, you will see a Shiv temple on the way back. If you want to enjoy the typical architecture of this region, you should visit this ancient original Shiva temple, which goes back to hundreds of years. The karigars or craftmen from nearby villages have also built a new temple near the old one. This is their tribute to Lord Shiva.

Although, all over country, Lord Shiva is represented by Shiv Linga, here he is represented by
a stone statue where the complete family is carved on stone. The original and new temple is
beautiful, constructed from carved wood and stone. The legend maintains that the statue was
found hidden in a tree. If you are visiting this temple in the end of March, you can also enjoy
Chachouli Mela.

Lunch in Manali

After so much exercise, it is natural that your stomach starts rumbling. Manali has many restaurants and they serve all types of delicious cuisine. You can also enjoy a good pizza at Pizzeria which is located in the Mall. While watching the activities in the crowded market, you can enjoy fine dining with smoked chicken pizza or banana nutella pancake. You can wash it down with the cup of lemon, ginger honey tea or a cold glass of fruit juice.

Lunch

If you don’t want to eat pizza, you can also visit Sher e Punjab for enjoying different cuisines such as north Indian or Chinese food.

Van Vihar National Park

The craving increases for fresh air after a delicious and heavy lunch. For that, you should head towards the end of the market. You will see a big and green board which proclaims the Van Vihar. This piece of land is protected by the government for its astonishing beauty and lush green surroundings which is along the bank of river.

The place is complete with children’s park which has slides and swings. It also has a small and manmade pond which is used for boating.  You can enjoy the serenity and peaceful surroundings, which is typical of Manali. Also, if you are in mood, you can head down to the rocks and relax.

After the relaxation, you can go back to the main market of Manali for shopping. There are numerous shops which sell lot of handicraft items such as wooden handicrafts, wall hangings, gloves, socks, mufflers and shawls, embroidered dresses and dress materials etc.

Dinner in Manali

As the sun sets, all the walking, shopping and the sightseeing induces you to hunger and a desire to relax with the drinks. For that, you can eat something in the numerous restaurants which are located in the main market of Manali. Or, you can also make a visit to Old Manali to enjoy your drinks and dinner in interesting surroundings. There are many eating joints in Old Manali which serves various cuisines from Indian to Israeli cuisine such as The Lazy Dog or Drifter’s Inn.

After completing sightseeing Manali in one day, you can go back to your hotel and enjoy the warm bed in your room.
