Manali to Chandigarh by Road

Manali to Chandigarh is about 270-280 KM long and buses and taxis are available plenty in numbers for traveling. HRTC buses, HPTDC buses and many private operators have ordinary, deluxe, semi-deluxe buses running between Chandigarh and Manali. The total distance for traveling is about 5-8 hours depending on the weather condition and road condition.  On the way, many restaurants, petrol pumps and other essential services are available. Travelers who get down at Chandigarh airport also take this road link to reach Manali.

Manali Leh Highway

Manali Roadways have got a very important highway as a part of it which is the Manali-Leh Highway. This highway connects Manali located in Himachal Pradesh to Leh in Jammu & Kashmir. The road opens from May-June till October. This road is used by the adventure enthusiasts for their bike safari.

This highway is a part of another National Highway 21. The Manali-Leh Highway is maintained by BRO (Border Roads Organization). During heavy snowfall, when the road gets blocked, BRO, a part of Indian Army works hard to clear the snow and keep the road clear for vehicles. Rohtang Pass, one of the highest passes, is situated on this highway. The highway is about 490 KM long.
