Food of Manali

Undoubtedly one of the most important things that you will be intrigued by, when you visit any place like a tourist is the food of that place. Manali is a foodie’s paradise, in every sense of the word. Typically, the people of Manali are fond of eating rice different types of curries. They have a wide variety of seasonal crops growing here and this constitutes of their daily diet consists of pulses, vegetables, raita, roti, curds, milk and so on.

They also serve patrodu and bhatura or special occasions. They also have butter, ghee and milk in most of their preparations. A very popular local drink of the area is Lugri or Chatki. It is prepared using barley seeds and red rice.The major crop production here is of salyara paddy Kodra and maize. These are also enjoyed in different forms of delicacies.

Food in Manali

There are so many local cafes and restaurants functioning in the area that serve cuisines from Italy and Israel.  Here you will find some of the most delicious pizzas, pastas, omelettes, lasagnes, momos, dim-sums, soups, salads,spring-rolls, cakes, pastries, veg/non veg rolls and puffs and sizzlers.
As for the Israeli influence, you also enjoy tasty Falafal, Humus and Khabus here, typically brought to the country by the travellers from Israel who settled down in Manali and now own a number of local cafes.

Trout fish is a very famous fish in this region and it is caught fresh from the river and cooked whole. The best partis that food here is so affordable and the quantity served is usually wholesome too. A typical breakfast in one of the cafes shall include toasted breads, two eggs cooked however you like it, with butter and jam on the side, fries, coleslaw and tea or coffee. So there is basically a lot on the plate but surprisingly enough, you will not have to pay a fortune for the same.
